About Me

Hi Mumma, I’m Nicole.

I’m a mum to my beautiful daughter, Mya, and a Pregnancy and Postpartum Fitness Specialist, recognised by the Active Pregnancy Foundation as one of the UK’s leading pre and postnatal specialists.

It’s my mission to help women feel strong, confident, and empowered throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and every stage of motherhood.

Why I do what I do

With over 10 years in the fitness industry, becoming a mum myself opened my eyes to the serious lack of specialist support available for women during such a transformative time.

Despite the huge physical and emotional changes we experience, only 8% of fitness professionals are qualified to support pre and postnatal clients — and I knew I had to be part of the change.

Supporting mums through safe, informed movement

Since launching my Barbells & Babies fitness classes in 2019, I’ve supported and empowered over 850 mums through safe, functional, and emotionally supportive movement.

These classes are about so much more than exercise. They’re about education, confidence, connection, and helping women rebuild trust in their bodies during a time when everything feels different.

I believe in sharing the real, raw, and rewarding parts of this journey, and in building a community where mums support and lift each other up. You don’t need to have it all figured out — you just need the right support.

Raising the Standard of Care

Because mums deserve nothing less than expert guidance, I’m constantly educating and upskilling to stay at the forefront of pre and postnatal care.

My aim isn’t just to help you feel better in your body, but to help raise the standard of care for women within the fitness industry as a whole.

Community, connection, and collaboration

In 2025, I co-launched Mum Run Collective alongside fellow mum and running enthusiast Frankie Thornton. Based in Wigan, where I live, the group was born from our shared desire to get outdoors, move our bodies, and connect with other mums in a supportive, welcoming space.

Through collaboration with a local CIC, we secured funding for lights and reflective vests, ensuring everyone can run safely and confidently after dark. What started as a simple idea has grown into a thriving community of women running together each week.

I also co-launched the She Runs Programme alongside industry leader Claire Gregory — a 12-week, postnatal-specific return-to-running programme designed to help women rebuild strength, confidence, and a love of running in a safe and progressive way after having a baby.
